  Alexander Gimpelevich, DO

  DO

  Dr. Alexander Gimpelevich was born and raised in Kharkov, Ukraine. Not one to shy away from an academic challenge, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Columbia University in 1997. After working for 2 years doing research for Mt. Sinai/ Columbia University Hospital, Dr. Gimpelevich went on to earn his doctorate in Osteopathy from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. After 1 year of residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, Dr. Gimpelevich completed his residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation from Long Island Jewish Hospital on Long Island. Always having been active in competitive athletics (he still plays soccer every week), and experiencing first-hand the multitude of injuries and problems that athletes endure, Dr. Gimpelevich was naturally drawn to his field of physiatry. He derives great satisfaction from helping his patients not only get out of pain, but surpass their own expectations and get more out of life. On a personal level, he thrives on the challenge of “figuring out” what’s causing patients’ problems and appreciates working with a team of professionals who work synergistically to help patients.

  Lyudmila Lvov, MD

  Psychiatrist

  Dr. Lyudmila Lvov is our resident Psychiatrist. The doctor provides outstanding service to her patients with flexible weekend hours to fit into your busy schedule. Dr. Lvov studied at Odessa Medical Institute in Odessa, Ukraine and then interned at Acute Care Hospital in Odessa, Ukraine. Her post-doctoral training included interning at Harlem Hospital and Columbian Presbyterian Services. She completed her residency at Elmhurst Hospital Center and Mt. Sinai Services. Dr. Lyudmila Lvov has extensive knowledge and experience in the psychiatric field, as she has worked in 8 different medical facilities. She has been employed at Coney Island Hospital, Rockland County Hospital, Queens General Hospital Center, and currently at Medex Diagnostic & Treatment Center. Dr. Lvov is known by her patients to be very pleasant, incredibly sweet, precise and understanding.

  David Khasidy, MD

  Internist

  Dr. David Khasidy is one of our primary care physicians on staff here at Medex Diagnostics & Treatment Center. Dr. Khasidy got his educational training and Medical Degree from the Medical Institute in Tblisi, USSR. Dr. Khasidy has had professional training and experience in internal medicine at the medical facilities of Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center and Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center. He is currently practicing both internal medicine and primary care.

  Nathalia Idelevitch, MD

  Family Physician, Geriatrician, Internist

  Dr. Nathalia Idelevitch is our Family Physician, Geriatrician and Internist on staff here at MedEx Diagnostics. She has a great deal of experience treating patients with different medical diagnoses. Dr. Nathalia graduated from Tver State Medical Academy as one of the top ten in her class in 1991. She completed her residency in Family Practice and was in a Geriatric Fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center.

  Barbara Cooper-Gordon, LCSW

  Director, Mental Health Services Program

  Barbara Cooper-Gordon is our Mental Health Services Program Director. Her area of expertise is helping those who have developed a chemical dependency and eating disorders. Barbara Cooper-Gordon is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). Her duties include but are not limited to assessing and treating clients and their families in understanding and coping with emotional and social problems; facilitating education, support groups, referrals, writing psychosocial evaluations and treatment plans, assuring compliance with agency and governmental practice, and providing advocacy and resource services for clients and families.

  Dr. Irina Benyaminova is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine meaning she has a license to practice medicine and surgery. Taking care of the physical, emotional and mental health of patients and their families is her main goal. Irina speaks both Russian and Spanish. Dr. Benyaminova graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of NYIT. She's been published multiple times and is a Certified Diplomat of The American Osteopathic Board of Family Phsyicians.

  Afshin Ganjian, DPM

  Podiatrist

  Afshin Ganjian is proud to serve the podiatric needs of Queens from the Medex Diagnostic & Treatment Center office in Forest Hills. Dr. Ganjian is a graduate of New York College of Podiatric Medicine who is devoted to his patients’ wellbeing. Dr. Ganjian has experience working at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, NY as a Podiatric Resident and has volunteered at LaGuardia Hospital Emergency Room. When he isn't working with patients, he is participating in Walk-a-Thons or helping in Medical Tents at marathons as a representative of the Podiatry Team. Dr. Ganjian will help you get back on your feet with great care!

  Andrey Rusetskiy, MSW

  Psychotherapist

  Andrey Rusetskiy is a bilingual licensed psychotherapist. Mr. Rusetskiy received his M.S. in Psychology in 1988 form St. Petersburg State University in Russia, and his MSW degree from NYU, USA in 1998. Andrey has over 25 years of experience in individual, couple and family therapy. Andrey was a founder and the vice-president of the Russian Psychological Association in New York. Andrey has been working for many years in the outpatient mental health setting in New York and in his private practice providing individual, family and couples therapy. During his 22 years of professional experience in the field of psychology, he worked with the small groups under extreme conditions during expeditions that performed forensic psychology services in prisons. He conducted research in the airport, provided counseling services in family psychology and maladaptation. In treatment of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, relationships issues and other problems, he is using CBT, Transactional Analysis, Existential and Gestalt therapy approaches. When working with couples, he implements Imago therapy. Besides the mentioned above approaches, he has developed his own approach in psychotherapy, "Psychology of Permission". It is opposite to the psychology of Prohibition. The majority of our clients that look for psychological services live in "Psychology of Prohibition", not allowing themselves to be creative, happy, married, effective, productive, etc... He believes that a person is in search of permission in his/her live and starts counseling for that reason.

  Sofya Ostroy, CNM

  Midwife

  Sofya Ostroy is a compassionate, comforting, and attentive midwife assisting women in Forest Hills, NY. Originally from Moscow, Ms. Ostroy practiced obstetrics and gynecology for 14 years while living in Moscow. She received her Master’s degree in midwifery from the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and she is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. Ms. Ostroy provides her patients with education and services that include genetic counseling, pregnancy screenings, intrauterine embryo transfers, assisting patients with mastitis and pregnancy complications, assisting patients with osteoporosis, provideing birth control and contraceptives, performing annual gynecological exams, and providing menopause consultations. In her spare time, Ms. Ostroy enjoys reading, visiting museums as well as spending time with her children.

  Jacqueline Aizen is a Registered Dietician and a graduate of New York University where she embarked on her journey to pursue a career in nutrition and wellness. Her goal is to inspire dietary and lifestyle changes, incorporating both clinical and holistic methods. In addition to nutrition therapy, she takes great pleasure in the culinary arts and enjoys helping individuals plan healthy and delicious meals on a budget. Her expertise and compassion create a recipe for motivation to help others. Food is such an integral part of our lives, not only as a source of sustenance, but also as a testimony to shape our cultures, traditions, and lifestyle.   Yelena Tsyba, MD

  OB/GYN

  Dr. Yelena Tsyba is our resident OB/GYN. There are very few medical practitioners who provide service, support, guidance with the necessary bed side manner when going through medical procedures like Dr. Tsyba. She speaks English and Russian to better help the public. Yelena Tsyba graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine - NYIT in 2005. During her rotating internship, she realized her passion was in Obstetrics and completed her residency at Wycoff Heights Medical Center. Dr. Tsyba is also a proud member of both the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and The American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG).

  Boris Chusid, MD

  Gastroenterologist

  Boris Chusid attended Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island to achieve his Medical Degree in 1995. Dr. Chusid personally performs over 3500 endoscopic procedures per year with particular emphasis on colonoscopy, hemorrhoid ligation, ercp, difficult polypectomies as well as upper endoscopy. Dr. Chusid has performed over 35,000 endoscopic procedures and personally consults on over 6000 patients per year. Dr.Chusid is currently employed by 15 different medical centers, clinics, and hospitals such as: Medex Multispeciality Group, All Health/ Amerimed Clinics, Lenox Hills Hospital, New York Neuro and Rehab Center/East Tremont Medical Center, Brooklyn Medcare, White Planes Medical PC, Urban Health Plan, and many more. In addition he has prior experience in 13 other medical facilities.

  Hamid Moussavian, MD

  Psychiatrist

  Dr. Hamid Moussavian is Board eligible psychiatrist and is the principal psychiatrist at Medex Diagnostic & Treatment Center. Dr. Moussavian got his psychiatric basis starting in Tehran, Iran at Tehran University School of Medicine. Coming to the United States, he started his residencies in Oklahoma University Hospital, moving to Rutgers Medical Schools Affiliated Hospitals (Lyons Hospital and Muhlenberhg Hospital), and finishing his residency at Rutgers Community Health Center. Mount Sinai Medical Center hosted Dr. Moussavian's fellowships from July 1982 to June 1984 where he went from providing treatment, recommendations, and disposition plans to becoming a chief fellow in child psychiatry in the pediatric unit. From finishing his fellowship he spread his knowledge and care to patients while working in different hospitals throughout the New York and New Jersey area. Currently Dr. Moussavian helps patients at Medex and also at Psychiatry Now for both adults and children.

  Victor Kizhner, MD

  ENT

  Dr. Victor Kizhneri s a caring Ear, Nose, and Throat physician (ENT) serving the Forest Hills community in New York. His diverse specialties include sleep medicine; head, neck, and sinus surgery; rhinology; and bad breath treatments. He speaks English, Hebrew, Russian, and Yiddish and is an attending physician at Saint Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Dr. Kizhner studied at the Sackler School of Medicine in New York City. He completed his residency in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at Haemek Medical Center in Afula, Israel. Later, he completed three fellowships at Saint Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. They included fellowships in endocrinology; in rhinology, sleep apnea, snoring, sleep medicine, sinus nasal disorders, thyroid, and parathyroid disorders. Visits with Dr. Kizhner generally last about 30 minutes. Some of his most frequent visit reasons include halitosis, ENT emergencies, allergies, cancer screening, tinnitus, asthma, dizziness, sleeping problems, and many others.

  Edward Rubinchik, MD

  Opthalmologist

  Dr. Edward Rubinchik started his career in 1985 when he attended Brandeis University, MA. From there he graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry. Moving on in education he earned his M.D. from SUNY-Downstate in Brooklyn. He completed his internship at St.Vincents Medical Center in NY, NY and then an Emergency Medicine Residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY. In 1995, he started his 3 year residency program in Opthalmology at Brookdale University Hospital in Brookyn, NY. At Brookdale he was resident of the year in 1995 and chief resident in 1998. Dr. Rubinchik has conducted research focusing on eye related theses for known associations. In 1997 he started his research for The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology "Pattern Of Traumatic Eye Injury In A High Crime Area Of Brooklyn". In 1998 Dr. Rubinchik proposed a thesis entitled "Prevalence of Pseuiexfoliation Glaucoma In The Caucasian Clinic Population" for the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting. For SUNY Downstate Grand Round, he looked into the "Success And Failure Of Managing Glaucoma In The Office Setting" in 2000. From August of 1998 to the present, Dr.Rubinchik has been preforming laser vision correction, routine eye care, and small incision cataract surgery as a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist. Dr. Rubinchik has Board Certifications - ABO, AMA, New York State Ophthalmologist Society, Kings County Ophthalmology Society.

  Ramesh Gowda, MD

  Cardiologist

  Dr. Ramesh M. Gowda is a Cardiologist treating patients in New York. He specializes in Interventional Cardiology and holds certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, as well as The American Board of Vascular Medicine in Endovascular Medicine. He is also a member of The American College of Cardiology, The American College of Chest Physicians, The Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and Society for Vascular Medicine. Originally from India, Dr. Gowda attended Bangalore University, where he completed both Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine degrees. He traveled to the U.S. to complete a fellowship in urology and an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He has since completed fellowships in his cardiovascular areas of expertise at Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He practices both general and Interventional cardiology. He is proficient in radial access and various newer techniques to treat peripheral arterial diseases. Procedures performed include but not limited to coronary, carotid and peripheral angiography, Interventions and pericardiocentesis. Diagnostic testing available at practice locations include ECG, echo, stress echo, nuclear stress test, vascular ultrasound, non-invasive vascular testing, holter and event monitors.

  Dr. Ron S. Bakal is a board certified urologist trained at Albert Einstein Hospital in General Urology. He was born in Israel and fluent in Hebrew. Dr. Bakal is currently affiliated with major medical centers including NYU medical center, Beth Israel Medical Center and Gramercy Surgery center. He is an advocate of minimally invasive surgery as well as holistic care for diseases such as chronic prostatitis, pelvic pain and interstitial cystitis.
